Grant Denyer has a lot of time on his hands these days after it was announced his long-running gig at Family Feud will soon end.

And on Saturday, the 40-year-old was sniffing around Dave Hughes Instagram account looking for some new opportunities.

The 47-year-old comedian announced his show, Hughesy We Have A Problem, has been renewed by Channel 10, and Grant was quick to ask for a job - as a cleaner.

While Grant was no doubt kidding, he is in fact out of a TV hosting role after it was confirmed that his game show Family Feud has been cancelled.

Speaking on 2DayFM's Em, Grant & Ed, he told listeners: 'I've got a big announcement guys. Family Feud is wrapping up.'

Grant revealed that Family Feud will be wrapping up after the 1200th episodes.

He acknowledged the show had run its course, saying: 'It did good things but we're probably guilty of, if anything, driving it into the ground a little bit too early.'

Grant claimed he felt 'sad' the show was being cancelled, after taking on the role of presenter in 2014 following his departure from Channel Seven's Sunrise.

'I think it came along at a time when I was looking for something new and a fun new challenge and it kind of re-birthed me, if you like,' he said.

'So then you have quite a sentimentality towards it, so yeah it's a bit sad' he said.

An Australian production of British game show Pointless may be taking over the slot, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Producers at EndemolShine are, 'on the hunt for people based in New South Wales for a local version' of the English show, the paper reports.
